 hops will be guided and led by the facilitator wit

 eratives can be tricky\, especially where an activ

  hosting the Autumn Assembly in a new kind of spac
 e at The Holbeck in Leeds\, a community club which
  has been serving its members and the wider commun
 ity for 150 years. We are connecting with Stir to 
 Action&#39\;s 21st Century Social Club\, an essent
 ial\, long term initiative to revitalise member-ow
 ned social spaces for a new generation.&nbsp\;</p>
 \n \n <p>Preserving and growing community spaces w
 hich are democratically run by the people who use 
 them is essential to worker cooperation. These spa
 ces bring us together\, foster the skills we need 
 to participate effectively in direct democracy in 
 our working lives and build our capacity to advoca
 te for worker control.</p>\n \n <p><strong>Program
 me</strong></p>\n \n <p>The theme for the Autumn A
 ssembly explores<strong> the social infrastructure
  needed for worker co-operatives to grow</strong>.
  The programme will have space for member submissi

  \n <p>They proposed 150 detailed ideas for social
 ly useful products the company could make\, such a
 s heat pumps\, wind turbines and kidney machines\,
  instead of fighter jet parts.</p>\n \n <p>The Luc
 as Plan became famous worldwide\, sparking other g
 roups of workers to propose their own plans. In It
 aly today\, workers occupying the former GKN auto 
 plant are putting those ideas into practice.</p>\n
  \n <p>The Lucas Plan was a political high point o
 f the C20th UK workers&#39\; movement. Even though
  it was killed by state inertia and owner-manageme
 nt opposition\, it remains an inspiration for ever
 yone who understands why ecological and&nbsp\;usef
 ul production under worker-community control is th
